Completed in early 2015, Little Red Robot Hunter is an original 2D animated short produced and animated by Maree Railton of Railtoons Animation.
Following the recent tradition of reinterpreting fairytales, it explores the idea of Little Red Riding Hood being retold as a futuristic chase scene, where a young woman living in the woods is confronted a Terminator-like robot wolf. Action ensues.
Made using a mixture of hand-drawn animation, painted backgrounds and multiplane compositing effects, LRRH was a traditionally-styled passion project and a pure joy to work on.

Recently I was commissioned by Community Training Australia to create an animated video showcasing their Diploma of Alcohol, Other Drugs and Mental Health. Deciding the sleek look of motion graphics animation would work best for the project, I created the entire project in After Effects with a continuous camera, creating a fast-paced but cohesive outcome.
About a month ago I did some freelance animation work for the fine folks at Studio Joho in Australia, whose clients include the comedy web channel College Humor. I worked on the Furious 7 project, where I fully animated the first scene (with the Rock and guns and bombs and a million explosions), and the second last scene (with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel driving out of a skyscraper because… action movies).
The first scene took 5-6 days of full-time animating, while the later scene took about 3-4 days (the scripts, voice recording and character designs were already done beforehand). I used a mixture of Photoshop, Toon Boom Studio and After Effects, as is my usual workflow at the moment.
A logo design I put together to give my After Effects muscles a quick work out. The only limitations I put on myself were to design a generic company logo with a ‘golden’ theme, a particle system, and an active camera. Result? “Stay gold, Company XYZ!”
Here it is: Part 2 of the sneak preview of my upcoming film ‘Little Red Robot Hunter’. Final touches are being put on the 2D animated film before it is released early next year. For the last 6 months I’ve poured my energies into making this film, and honestly? It’s looking pretty sweet. I know, I know, you can barely contain your excitement. But to tide you over in the meantime, here are some more exclusive concept pictures and screenshots from the short film:

Recently I completed a part-time 10 week internship at Brisbane animation company Explanimate. During my internship time I wrote, animated and composited this 2D animated short film about the Great Barrier Reef, which we lovingly dubbed ‘Avoid the Drama’. The guys at Explanimate must have been blown away by my spectacular scriptwriting efforts on this project, because since completing my internship I have taken on freelance scriptwriting and blog writing projects for the company. And it’s all thanks to a sick dolphin and some gossipy shrimp.
At the start of the year I was commissioned to create a quick, cute animated logo for a comedy production group called Cheeky Moon Productions, who you can check out here: https://www.youtube.com/user/CheekyMoonFilms. This was the result, which now sits proudly at the end of each Cheeky Moon weekly video sketch. Enjoy!
